Visiting Plattsburgh this July? Looking for fun ideas to add to your trip itinerary? We’ve got something for you. Try something different and take a cooking class!
Carriage House Cooking School is one of the best places in the Adirondack Coast to take cooking classes. Located in Peru — just 20 minutes from Plattsburgh — the culinary school offers a wide variety of classes for every level, that teach you how to expertly create dishes to suit just about any taste.
The classes are organized by Chef Chris Curtiss, the former Dean of Culinary Arts and Director of Online Programs at the New England Culinary Institute. He also specializes in the artistic presentation, so you know your dish is going to look good! The classes at Carriage House are specifically designed to be small and hands-on. Here are three upcoming classes you won’t want to miss in July:

July 7 - Strawberry Fields Forever

Strawberries are one of the area’s best local offerings. This class takes advantage of that with some great recipes to celebrate strawberry season, including strawberry crullers, strawberry fool with pound cake and whipped cream, and maple balsamic strawberries.

July 14 - Simple Everyday Bread

You only need four ingredients to make amazing bread: flour, water, salt and yeast. This class will show you how, specifically Artisan Style Minimal Knead Bread?Boston Lager Bread.

July 28 - Chicken and Waffles

This iconic American food combination is having a renaissance! Chef Curtiss will demonstrate a classic chicken and waffle dish and then guide the class through different recipes he has created, such as the sourdough liege waffle with crisp spiced chicken thigh and maple cilantro chipotle sauce.
